Ruhama Integrated Charity Organization (RICO) is a non-governmental organization founded in Ethiopia in April 2022. It is legally registered with the Ethiopian Civic Societal Organization in recognizing the pressing need for comprehensive, integrated services to address the multifaceted challenges faced by vulnerable populations and is dedicated to promoting social justice and empowering vulnerable communities throughout the country. The charity focuses on providing support to various marginalized groups, including women, children, refugees, people with disabilities, and older adults.
RICO initially began its operations in the Amhara region, north Shewa Zone with the primary focus on supporting low-income and orphaned students by providing them with scholastic materials, ensuring they have the necessary resources to pursue their education and improve their prospects.
Recognizing the importance of economic empowerment, RICO also initiated economic strengthening activities targeted at specific groups. One such initiative is providing asset and cash transfers to people living with HIV (PLHIV) and street geriatrics, helping them overcome financial barriers and improve their livelihoods. These programs aim to enhance self-reliance and enable individuals to lead more fulfilling lives.
The organization believes in a holistic approach that combines advocacy, service delivery, and community engagement to address the underlying causes of social injustice and vulnerability.
